The Second Visit of the Croatian Team to Budapest – Part One

Posted on 14 September 2022

The first part of the second visit of the Croatian project team to Budapest, within the research activities of the first year, was realized from 6th to 11th September 2022. The participants were principal researcher Tamara Bjažić Klarin, PhD, and Mauro Sirotnjak. They held a meeting with all members of the Hungarian team on 7th September at the Hungarian Academy of Arts, when both groups summarized the results of the research so far, as well as deliberated upon the program and details of the forthcoming webinar. The date of the webinar all members agreed upon is 28th October 2022, with the Hungarian team responsible for the technical organization.

The principal goal of the stay in Budapest was to research several achievements of the interwar Hungarian architects, with works in present-day Croatia or indirect cooperation with Croatian architects of the period through international professional organizations. The research was conducted at the Special Collection of the Metropolitan Ervin Szabó Library (Fővárosi Szabó Ervin Könyvtár) and at the library of the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (Budapesti Műszaki és Gazdaságtudományi Egyetem). Part of the programme included also the visit to the House of Terror Museum (Terror Háza), Hungarian Railway Museum (Magyar Vasúttörténeti Park), and to the exhibition “A Taste of Vienna in Buda: The Pikler Villa — a Work by Josef Hoffmann” held at the Ráth Villa of the Museum of Applied Arts (Iparművészeti Múzeum).
